As an institution of higher education, Maitreyi College, University of Delhi nurtures the country’s youth and prepares them to become promising citizens of tomorrow. With the youth that has the requisite skill-set, vision and approach, the country can move towards greater self-reliance in 2047. The young of today, are the future thought leaders who will assume leadership roles in different domains in the future. Hence, to accomplish the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, educational institutions play a decisive role.
Through curricular, co-curricular and extra curricular initiatives, Maitreyi College has been preparing the country's young women to participate in women-led development. Interdisciplinary education, and different cells and cultural societies in the college provide a platform to the students to gain industry exposure and acquire insights. The Centre for Research, Maitreyi College has taken up “Knowledge Systems of India” as its theme for 2024. This is a platform for students to explore and understand the country’s past, so they utilize this wealth of knowledge to build a promising future. This will be achieved as students engage in Summer Internship Projects, Annual Research Projects and various seminars surrounding this theme. Technology has also been embedded in the pedagogy of the college, bringing forth a technologically-sound generation.
The college NSS and the Enabling Unit conduct workshops and activities aimed towards sensitizing students to the society’s needs, ensuring understanding of an inclusive and tolerant society. The college has collaborations with different stakeholders beyond the university, ensuring student interaction with different sections of society outside. Maitreyi College facilitates differently abled athletes who represent the country through the Special Olympics Bharat. The college also has collaborations with social organizations such as Youth for Sewa, Cure International India Trust, all of which gives an opportunity for our students to interact with different sections of society. The college also plays a pivotal role in various villages through the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, a flagship program of the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
The college also contributes to nation building through a rigorous training of young women in the NCC. This collective effort of the college NCC is evident in the selection of our students for various positions in the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force and Civil Services. Maitreyi prepares a skilled-taskforce for the nation. The college also incubates student start-ups, a platform for students to acquire entrepreneurship skills and become self-reliant at an early age.
As we work towards these immediate goals, we are engineering a tomorrow that shall witness Bharat as a fully developed, inclusive and a self-reliant power at the global stage.
