Dr. Mathew Varghese, Senior Orthopedic Surgeon and Head of the Department at St. Stephens Hospital, officially launched the app on 18th April 2024 during Astitva 2024, a cultural fest for the differently abled organised by NSS, the Health and Hygiene committee, and the Enabling Unit of the college. It was remarked by Dr. Mathew Varghese, “Maitreyi College is the only college in the University to launch something so one-of-its-kind.” Visually impaired students showcased its navigation capabilities using QR codes embedded in the app.
"We are immensely proud of the commendable efforts put forth by our students and the entire team involved in designing and implementing this accessibility initiative," remarked the college principal, Professor Haritma Chopra, acknowledging the dedication and commitment displayed towards inclusivity.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed esteemed dignitaries gracing the occasion, including His Excellency, Evagoras Vryonides, High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus to India, and Dr. Honnareddy N, Director of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Government of India, Sh. Devendra Kumar from Saksham Foundation, Sh. Surendra Kumar from the social organization, Humara Parivaar, and Dr. Santhosh George from Cure International India Trust. Their presence underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in creating a more inclusive society.
