The Indian Dance Society of the college manifests a variety of Indian Classical and Folk-dance forms. Nrityakriti aims at reflecting the cultural richness through diversified dance forms. Being the champions within the DU Folk Dance Circuit for 7 consecutive fest seasons (from 2016-22) , this fest season too Nrityakriti has made its remarkable place, and the society successfully established an impeccable record in its history bagging 12 first prizes, 4 second prizes and 3 third prizes, making us the number 1 Indian Dance Society in the DU circuit.

Vision

At Nrityakriti, our vision is to embody the motto of "Passion with Grace" in every aspect of life. We are dedicated to promoting and preserving the rich heritage of Indian dance. Through our efforts, we aim to cultivate deep love and respect for Indian art and dance forms, celebrating the cultural roots and diversity of our traditions. We strive to create a supportive, joyful community that connects individuals with art, music, dance, and nature, while fostering creativity, discipline, self-confidence, and an appreciation for the performing arts.

 

Mission

Our mission is to inspire and enrich the appreciation of Indian dance by providing opportunities for students to engage with traditional dance forms. We aim to nurture love for Indian classical and folk dance, encouraging a deep understanding of their cultural significance. By celebrating the diverse traditions of Indian dance, we hope to instill a sense of pride in our heritage and inspire our members to pursue their passion with grace and dedication.

 

Society Activities

  • Nrityakriti, the Indian Dance Society of Maitreyi College, showcases a vibrant array of Indian classical and folk-dance forms, reflecting the rich cultural diversity of our country. With a remarkable history of success, including winning 21 positions in group folk dance and 14 positions in solo classical dance competitions during the tenure 2023-24, Nrityakriti has consistently excelled in the Delhi University dance circuit. Recognized as "The Best and Top Folk Dance Society" by DU Beat, Nrityakriti continues to make its mark by celebrating and promoting the cultural richness of Indian dance.

     

    Now in its 12th year, Nrityakriti has thrived under the guidance of our convener- DR.SAROJ RANI MA’AM. Our society is committed to nurturing talent and providing a platform for our members to showcase their skills in both classical and folk dance.
