Established in 1976, the Zoology Department at Maitreyi College offers B.Sc. (Hons) Zoology and B.Sc. (Prog) Life Science programs. With 16 dedicated permanent faculty members and 9 skilled lab staff, we ensure a holistic learning experience through a blend of curricular and co-curricular activities.
Our well-equipped laboratories boast advanced machinery like Gel Doc, PCR machines, UV-spectrophotometer, and more, facilitating hands-on learning. Our faculty members are not only educators but also mentors and researchers, collectively authoring over 50 research articles and staying abreast of teaching methodologies through Faculty Development Programs.
Students actively engage in Annual Research and Summer Internship Projects with the Center for Research, while our teaching methods focus on discussions, application-based examples, and practical learning. Additionally, our student-led society "Chrysalis" fosters leadership skills and event management expertise, enhancing the college experience.
We publish the annual e-magazine "Iridescence," showcasing the creative talents of our students, and are committed to community outreach through workshops and an ICT Certificate Course. Our department consistently excels in university rankings, reflecting our dedication to a well-rounded learning environment.
