About

Established in the year 1990; Dialog, the Student Association of the Department of Sociology, Maitreyi College is a dedicated, inclusive and an enterprising body of students involved in the vision of engaging them with both macro and micro realities of society. Moreover, the Association attempts to inculcate the rigours of scholarly work through intensive, critical and reflexive thinking so that they are able to perform the art of “doing sociology” through a combination of both curricular and extracurricular activities.

Several departmental activities are organized by the Association wherein students work under the able leadership of the faculty. The Association comprises of the Association-in-charge (faculty), President, Vice-president, Executive Vice-President, Treasurer, General Secretary and Joint Secretary(students). The office bearers are elected/nominated by the students at the beginning of every academic year. Additionally, there is also the presence of other teams like the PR, hospitality, social media, volunteer, design and creative teams which provide ample opportunities to students to pursue their interests in other fields as well. This experience helps students not only in gaining knowledge about different skills, but also in honing their skills regarding social realities.

The Association seeks not only at “doing sociology”, but also at creating awareness regarding social issues through different events, talks, movie screenings and reviews, field trips, intercollege departmental meet (Imagine), research projects, book discussions, poster competitions, open-mic competitions, exhibitions and seminars etc.
