Head of Department- Shipra Verma
Ms Shipra Verma is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Education, Maitreyi College, University of Delhi. She is a well acknowledged physical educationist. She has completed Bachelor of Arts from Jesus & Mary College (University of Delhi), Bachelor of Physical Education from Amity, Noida (CH. Charan Singh University, Meerut), Master of Physical Education from Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education & Sports Sciences, (University of Delhi). And she has done M. Phil in Physical Education (2007) from Annamalai University, Distance Education India.
Other than physical education she has also completed 6 Months Diploma in Office Automation (Computes).
She is an active advisor of Delhi Football association, Netball Federation and Associate Secretary of Indian Basketball association of India. She is also a convener of basketball, Netball, Softball and baseball Inter Collegiate tournament organized by Delhi University Sports Council since 2008 onwards. She was the Director Protocol in Common Wealth Games 2010 Delhi and Youth Commonwealth Games Torch Coordinator 2008.
She is an International Netball Player and Secured Gold Medal in senior national Basketball Tournament. She has also represented India in 45th International Session for young Participants of International Olympic Academy held at Athens, (Greece). She has done Solidarity Course in Leadership and Sports Management at instance of international Olympic Committee and Indian Olympic Association (2005). She is a Qualified Referee of basketball Federation of India and Level “A” Cricket Coach from NCA.
Dr. NEHA BAGHEL
Dr. NEHA BAGHEL is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Education, Maitreyi College, University of Delhi. She is a well qualified and competent physical education professional. she is competed her Bachelor's and Master's of Physical Education from Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education, Gwalior, M.P. with the Specialization in Swimming and Exercise Physiology and her PhD is Awarded from Department of Physical Education and Sports Science, University of Delhi, New Delhi. She had qualified 2 Times J.R.F in UGC-NET / J.R.F Examination and completed her degrees with meritorious rankings.
She is a former Sports Officer (Class -2 gazetted officer) in M.P. Higher Education, a former TGT Physical Education Teacher (permanent) in government of NCT of Delhi Directorate of Education, New Delhi and a former Physical Education Teacher (permanent) in Jawahar Navodaya Vidhyalaya, Balrampur Chhatishghar.
She is a Professional Player of SWIMMING, TRIATHLON and ROAD CYCLING. In Swimming, she had won 4 medals in All India Civil Services Swimming Championship in 2022 and 2023 and also won many medals in Swimming Nationals and states level tournaments. she 5 times represented All India Interuniversity in Swimming and one time All India Interuniversity in a Road Cycling from LNIPE, Gwalior. In Triathlon, she had won a Bronze Medal in National Games 2015 for which she was awarded 2 lakh rupees by chief minister of M.P. She completed her all races with meritorious ranking in 6 Senior Nationals of Triathlon (including South Asian Games Trial) and with the 6 times consecutively state champion in M.P. senior state championship 2015 to 2020. She also love to play other sports and do Podium Finish in competitions which are Marathon, Yoga, Table-Tennis, Chess and Badminton.
